Forex Awards Winners 2011

The Forex Awards 2011 reflect a period when the retail foreign-exchange industry was moving rapidly from relatively standardized brokerage services toward a much broader technology-driven ecosystem. The distinctions awarded that year covered not only overall and regional brokerage performance, but also execution, ECN/STP services, trading platforms, mobile access, liquidity, order-management systems, education, financial media, affiliate programs and social trading.

The 2011 results are particularly interesting because they show how the criteria by which a forex company could distinguish itself were becoming increasingly specialized. Traders were no longer evaluating a provider solely by spreads or the number of currency pairs available. Platform stability, execution infrastructure, transparency, accessibility from mobile devices, account flexibility and supporting information services were becoming integral parts of the trading proposition.

Within this framework, the awards recognized companies that stood out in their respective areas. The descriptions below interpret each distinction according to the field represented by the award; they should not be read as claims that every individual technical metric mentioned was independently measured unless specifically stated in the award title.

Forex.com — Best Forex Broker USA 2011

Forex.com received the Best Forex Broker USA 2011 award, taking the principal distinction for the US market.

The category represents an overall assessment of brokerage competitiveness rather than one isolated feature. A leading forex broker must bring together trading access, execution infrastructure, usable technology, account management and client-facing services into a coherent proposition.

In a major and highly developed market such as the United States, the distinction positioned Forex.com as the standout US broker within the Forex Awards 2011 selection.

FXCM — Best Trading Platform & Best Forex Broker Asia

FXCM earned two Forex Awards in 2011: Best Trading Platform and Best Forex Broker Asia.

The Best Trading Platform distinction recognized one of the most important interfaces between trader and market. Platform quality concerns the ability to monitor prices, analyze market conditions, enter and manage positions and maintain effective control over trading activity.

The separate Best Forex Broker Asia award extended that recognition beyond technology. It highlighted FXCM's position in the Asian market and made the company one of the year's multiple-award recipients.

Together, the two distinctions demonstrate the difference between excellence in a particular technological component and broader recognition of a brokerage proposition within a major geographical market.

IronFX — Best ECN/STP Broker 2011

IronFX was named Best ECN/STP Broker 2011.

ECN/STP brokerage was an important area of differentiation as experienced traders increasingly paid attention to how their orders were processed rather than focusing solely on advertised spreads.

The category concerned the trading architecture connecting client orders with the execution environment. Factors relevant to such a distinction naturally include the structure of order routing, access to pricing and the efficiency and consistency of execution.

IronFX's award placed it at the forefront of this specialized brokerage segment in the 2011 results.

Amana Capital — Most Transparent Broker 2011

Amana Capital received the Most Transparent Broker 2011 distinction.

Transparency is fundamental in leveraged financial trading because clients must be able to understand the conditions under which positions are opened, maintained and closed. Clear presentation of trading terms, account conditions, pricing structures and operational policies helps traders make informed decisions.

By maintaining transparency as an independent award category, Forex Awards emphasized that trust and clarity should be evaluated separately from platform functionality or commercial competitiveness.

3TG Brokers — Best Newcomer 2011

3TG Brokers was selected as Best Newcomer 2011.

This award focused on an emerging participant rather than an established market leader. New brokerage businesses face the challenge of developing recognizable services and technology while competing against companies with longer operating histories and larger existing client bases.

The award recognized 3TG Brokers as the notable newcomer within the year's competitive environment and highlighted the continuing arrival of new participants in the online forex sector.

InstaForex — Best Micro Broker 2011

InstaForex received Best Micro Broker 2011.

Micro accounts represented an important component of retail forex accessibility. They enabled clients to work with smaller nominal trading sizes, making live-market participation more adaptable to different capital levels and risk-management approaches.

The category therefore addressed more than simply minimum deposit requirements. A viable micro-trading environment also depends on usable trading infrastructure and account conditions appropriate for smaller-scale market participation.

ATC Brokers — Best Trade Executions 2011

ATC Brokers was awarded Best Trade Executions 2011.

Execution is among the most practically significant aspects of brokerage performance. Once an order is submitted, the trader depends on the broker's infrastructure to process that instruction under prevailing market conditions.

The distinction placed attention on the transaction itself rather than on marketing, educational resources or interface design. This was especially relevant to active market participants, for whom the quality and consistency of trade handling can materially affect the practical trading experience.

AvaTrade — Best Mobile Trading Platform & Best Forex Broker Europe

AvaTrade collected two awards in 2011: Best Mobile Trading Platform and Best Forex Broker Europe.

Mobile trading was becoming increasingly important as smartphones changed the way clients interacted with financial markets. Traders expected to monitor positions, observe price movements and perform essential account and trading operations away from their desktop computers.

AvaTrade's mobile distinction therefore recognized an increasingly strategic area of brokerage technology.

Its second award, Best Forex Broker Europe 2011, reflected a broader regional assessment. Taken together, the awards recognized AvaTrade on two different levels: technological accessibility and its overall brokerage proposition for the European market.

Easy-Forex — Best Dealing Room 2011

Easy-Forex received Best Dealing Room 2011.

The dealing room represents the operational layer behind trading services. While retail clients primarily interact with software, brokerage operations require systems and processes capable of supporting transaction flow and managing trading activity.

This distinction recognized the less visible operational infrastructure behind the client interface and illustrates the depth of the 2011 award structure.

RoboForex — Best Execution Broker & Best Mini Account Provider

RoboForex received two distinctions: Best Execution Broker 2011 and Best Mini Account Provider 2011.

The execution award focused on the broker's transaction environment and the handling of client orders. The mini-account award addressed a different dimension: accessibility and flexibility for clients trading with smaller account structures.

Receiving both distinctions was significant because they represented different parts of the brokerage proposition. One concerned the technical process of trading; the other concerned how that trading environment was packaged and made accessible to a particular segment of retail clients.

Currenex — Best White Label Solution Provider 2011

Currenex was named Best White Label Solution Provider 2011.

White-label technology allows financial businesses to offer trading services using infrastructure developed by a specialist provider. The quality of these solutions therefore affects not only the direct customer of the technology company but potentially the end users of numerous financial brands.

The award acknowledged the business-to-business technology layer of the forex industry and showed that the Forex Awards were already looking beyond conventional retail brokers.

FX Solutions — Best Global Professional Trading Platform 2011

FX Solutions received Best Global Professional Trading Platform 2011.

Professional trading environments have requirements beyond straightforward order entry. Market monitoring, analytical functionality, position management and efficient workflows become particularly important for sophisticated and active users.

The global dimension of the category also reflected the increasingly international character of electronic trading, where professional technology was expected to support market participants operating across geographical boundaries.

Interactive Brokers Knowledge Base — Best Introductory Program 2011

Interactive Brokers Knowledge Base received the Best Introductory Program 2011 award.

This category recognized the importance of providing market participants with structured introductory information. Trading platforms and financial instruments can involve unfamiliar terminology and operational concepts, creating a substantial learning curve for new users.

An effective introductory resource helps users understand how trading services and markets function before they progress toward more sophisticated activity. Its inclusion among the awards shows that user education was already being treated as an integral component of the online trading ecosystem.

MOFT — Best Media Resource 2011

MOFT was recognized as Best Media Resource 2011.

Forex traders operate in an information-intensive environment. Economic developments, market analysis and financial news can all form part of the decision-making process.

The existence of a dedicated media category acknowledged that information providers had become an important component of the industry alongside brokers, banks and technology companies.

Forex TV — Best Education Provider 2011

Forex TV received Best Education Provider 2011.

Education and introductory resources fulfilled related but distinct roles in the 2011 awards. While an introductory program assists newcomers with their first steps, a broader education provider can support continuing development of market knowledge.

The Forex TV award emphasized the value of financial-market learning in an industry where easier technological access did not eliminate the need to understand trading concepts and risks.

YouTradeFX Affiliates — Best Affiliate Program 2011

YouTradeFX Affiliates received the Best Affiliate Program 2011 award.

Affiliate partnerships had become an established component of the online brokerage distribution model. Brokers increasingly depended on digital partners, specialized websites and online communities to connect with prospective clients.

An effective affiliate infrastructure therefore needed to support the commercial relationship between the broker and its partners. Recognition of YouTradeFX Affiliates illustrates the growing sophistication of brokerage marketing and distribution networks.

Regional Forex Broker Awards 2011

The regional awards demonstrate how international the retail forex market had become by 2011.

TeleTRADE was named Best Forex Broker Russia 2011, recognizing its position in the Russian market.

Markets.com received Best Forex Broker Africa 2011, highlighting brokerage activity across the developing African retail trading sector.

FXCM won Best Forex Broker Asia 2011, adding a regional award to its Best Trading Platform distinction.

InvestTechFX was selected as Best Forex Broker Canada 2011, representing the Canadian market.

AvaTrade received Best Forex Broker Europe 2011, complementing its Best Mobile Trading Platform award.

Together with Forex.com as Best Forex Broker USA, these distinctions created a geographically broad group of winners across North America, Europe, Russia, Asia and Africa.

LiteForex — Fastest Growing Provider 2011

LiteForex was named Fastest Growing Provider 2011.

Unlike an award based primarily on an established market position, this category highlighted expansion and momentum. Growth in online brokerage can involve development of the customer base, geographic reach, service capacity and broader market presence.

Rapid expansion also creates operational demands. Technology and client infrastructure need to develop alongside the business if growth is to remain sustainable. The LiteForex distinction consequently represented one of the year's forward-looking categories.

J.P. Morgan — Best Liquidity Provider 2011

J.P. Morgan received Best Liquidity Provider 2011.

Liquidity provision occupies a fundamental position within electronic markets. It contributes to the availability of executable prices and supports the transaction infrastructure used by other market participants.

The presence of J.P. Morgan among the Forex Awards winners also demonstrates that the 2011 program was not limited to retail brokerage brands. Institutional market infrastructure was recognized as an essential part of the broader foreign-exchange ecosystem.

FX Junction — Best Social Trading Network 2011

FX Junction received Best Social Trading Network 2011.

Social trading represented a significant change in the relationship between traders and online platforms. Instead of treating trading purely as an individual activity, social networks introduced interaction, observation and the exchange of trading-related information between users.

The award is historically notable because social and copy-oriented trading would become increasingly prominent during the following years. Its presence in the 2011 awards shows that this transition was already clearly visible.

MetaQuotes — Best Trading Software Provider 2011

MetaQuotes received Best Trading Software Provider 2011.

Trading software forms a central technological layer of the retail forex industry. Brokers depend on software infrastructure to provide market access, while traders rely on it for analysis, order placement and position management.

This distinction therefore recognized technology development independently from brokerage operations. It also reinforced one of the strongest themes of the 2011 awards: software was becoming just as important to the industry's development as traditional brokerage services.

ITG Order Management Systems — Best Trading Order Management 2011

ITG Order Management Systems received Best Trading Order Management 2011.

Order-management technology addresses the organization and control of trading instructions within a broader execution workflow. As electronic trading became more sophisticated, managing orders efficiently became an increasingly specialized technological function.

The award recognized this part of the transaction lifecycle independently from execution brokerage and liquidity provision, providing another indication of how granular the trading infrastructure had become.

Trading Technology Becomes a Competitive Field of Its Own

A defining feature of the Forex Awards 2011 was the extent to which technology had separated into multiple specialized categories.

FXCM received the conventional Best Trading Platform award, while FX Solutions was recognized specifically for a global professional trading platform. AvaTrade represented the rapidly developing mobile segment, Currenex the white-label market, MetaQuotes trading software and ITG Order Management Systems the specialized order-management layer.

These awards addressed different parts of the trading technology stack. A retail client saw the trading interface, but behind that interface stood software, connectivity, order-management processes and execution infrastructure. Financial companies wishing to launch their own services also required scalable technology solutions.

The 2011 award structure consequently provides a useful picture of an industry in which technological capability was ceasing to be merely an attribute of a broker and becoming a competitive sector in its own right.

Execution, Liquidity and the Transaction Chain

The 2011 winners also reveal considerable attention to what happens after a trader decides to enter or exit the market.

ATC Brokers received Best Trade Executions, RoboForex was Best Execution Broker, IronFX was Best ECN/STP Broker, Easy-Forex won Best Dealing Room, J.P. Morgan was recognized as Best Liquidity Provider, and ITG Order Management Systems received the order-management distinction.

Although related, these awards represent different components of trading infrastructure.

Liquidity concerns the availability of market pricing. Order management concerns the handling and organization of trading instructions. ECN/STP relates to brokerage and routing architecture. Execution awards focus more directly on how those instructions ultimately become transactions.

Separating these categories made the Forex Awards 2011 considerably more informative than a simple ranking of "best brokers."

Mobile and Social Trading Signal a Changing Retail Market

Two awards are especially revealing when the 2011 results are viewed historically.

AvaTrade's Best Mobile Trading Platform reflected the transition from trading tied predominantly to desktop computers toward permanent access through mobile devices. The ability to check positions or react to market developments while away from a workstation was becoming a genuine competitive advantage.

At the same time, FX Junction's Best Social Trading Network showed another emerging trend: trading platforms were beginning to incorporate community-based interaction.

These developments would eventually become commonplace, but in 2011 they represented important changes in how retail traders accessed markets and interacted with trading technology.

Different Account Structures for a Broader Retail Audience

The awards to InstaForex for Best Micro Broker and RoboForex for Best Mini Account Provider illustrate the continued expansion of forex toward a wider retail audience.

Micro and mini account structures enabled traders to work with smaller nominal exposure and offered greater flexibility in determining position sizes. For developing traders, this could provide an intermediate stage between simulated trading and larger live-market positions.

The existence of two separate categories demonstrates how important account segmentation had become. Brokers were increasingly designing services around different client profiles rather than relying on a single standardized account structure.

Information and Education Become Part of the Forex Ecosystem

The 2011 winners were not confined to companies executing trades.

Interactive Brokers Knowledge Base was recognized for its introductory program, Forex TV for education and MOFT as a media resource. These distinctions acknowledged that participation in increasingly accessible financial markets created a corresponding need for information.

This distinction is important. A trading platform provides access, but access alone does not provide knowledge. Educational and media resources helped create an ecosystem around the transactional core of the forex market.

The inclusion of these categories consequently shows an industry maturing beyond the simple relationship between broker and trader.

Brokerage Competition Was Already Global

The regional awards provide perhaps the clearest indication of the geographical scope of the 2011 industry.

Forex.com represented the United States, TeleTRADE Russia, Markets.com Africa, FXCM Asia, InvestTechFX Canada, and AvaTrade Europe.

Rather than assuming that a single broker could necessarily be regarded as the strongest choice everywhere, the awards recognized that brokerage markets developed under different competitive and regional conditions.

This regional structure also allowed companies to demonstrate strength in more than one dimension. FXCM combined its Asian brokerage award with Best Trading Platform, while AvaTrade combined European recognition with Best Mobile Trading Platform.

Multiple-Award Winners

Two companies were particularly prominent through multiple distinctions.

FXCM received Best Trading Platform and Best Forex Broker Asia, connecting technological recognition with regional brokerage performance.

AvaTrade received Best Mobile Trading Platform and Best Forex Broker Europe, similarly combining a technology-focused distinction with a major regional award.

RoboForex also received two awards, but with a different profile: Best Execution Broker and Best Mini Account Provider. Its recognition therefore spanned execution infrastructure and account accessibility.

These combinations show why evaluating the winners by individual categories is more informative than simply counting awards. The distinctions addressed substantially different areas of the trading business.

Forex Awards 2011 in Perspective

Taken as a whole, the Forex Awards Announced Winners 2011 depict an industry already well into its transition toward the structure familiar to modern online trading.

Traditional brokerage remained central. Forex.com, TeleTRADE, Markets.com, FXCM, InvestTechFX and AvaTrade represented major geographical markets, while specialized distinctions examined transparency, execution, ECN/STP services and account formats.

Yet an equally important story was developing behind the brokerage brands.

J.P. Morgan represented institutional liquidity. Currenex represented white-label infrastructure. MetaQuotes represented trading software. ITG Order Management Systems represented transaction-management technology. FX Solutions represented professional platforms. AvaTrade demonstrated the increasing importance of mobile trading, while FX Junction represented the emerging social dimension of online investment.

At the same time, Interactive Brokers Knowledge Base, Forex TV and MOFT demonstrated that education and financial information were becoming established components of the same ecosystem.

The 27 distinctions in the supplied Forex Awards 2011 winner list therefore capture much more than a selection of successful brokers. They show an electronic trading industry differentiating into specialized layers: brokerage, execution, liquidity, platforms, software, mobile technology, account services, education, media, partnerships and social interaction.

That breadth is what makes the 2011 results particularly useful from a historical perspective. They document a stage at which online forex was no longer simply about gaining access to currency markets. Competition was increasingly determined by how efficiently, transparently, technologically and conveniently that access could be delivered.
